What is Protecting God's Children?
The Protecting God's Children program educates and trains adults (clergy, religious, teachers, staff, volunteers, and parents) about the dangers of abuse, the warning signs of abuse, the ways to prevent abuse, the methods of properly reporting suspicions of abuse, and responding to allegations of abuse.
In 2023, changes were made to the Protecting God's Children program. If you were certified after January 2020, you are not required to be recertified. If you were certified before January 2020, you must be recertified before volunteering in the parish or school. Please log into your account on VIRTUSOnline.org as soon as possible to both update your profile and complete the updated training.
When reviewing your profile, please ensure that Our Lady Star of the Sea School is identified as your primary location even if you also volunteer at a different church. If you encounter any problems accessing your account, need assistance identifying the appropriate training, need your password reset, etc., please contact Steven Carozza at the Parish Office for help answering questions.
