NEW TIME ADDED: Wednesday, May 13, 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Details below on how Drive Up Confession will work.
Easter blessings to you and your family!
During this pandemic some aspects of the sacramental life of the Church have been put on hold. Obviously as we attempt to move forward with the sacramental life, we have to proceed with caution and slowly move forward.
This coming Saturday, May 9, I will be available for “Drive Up Confession” from 10:00 - 11:00 AM. We will try this and see how it works, especially in keeping necessary privacy that is essential for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Here is how it will work plan:
Cars will be directed to enter the east end of the church parking lot near the rectory (the end opposite the church canopy) and stop by the gym courtyard. When motioned forward, the car will come to the school canopy, near the school main doors. The penitent stays in the car and the priest will be about 8 feet away under the canopy. If it is not windy, we might try putting up a screen, otherwise know there might not be a “behind the screen” option. Given the necessity of privacy, if there are more than one penitent in the car, it might be best to park further away in the parking lot and then walk up when the time is appropriate.
If all this goes well, this Drive Up Confession may be available more in the future. Watch this newsletter for additional information!
Thank you for your patience and I ask for your continued prayers for those who are planning and guiding the steps forward in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
Msgr. Gary Smetanka
