Music Ministry

Each Sunday at Our Lady Star of the Sea, we come together as a community to celebrate the Eucharist.  Music serves as a bond among the members; we "sing the liturgy" to express our unity as Catholics.  When we sing together, we minister to one another, as each voice combines to encourage others to do likewise.  Truly being prayer, common song helps us to express our belief in the Gospel and strengthens us to live the Gospel message outside of our church building.  The various choirs and ensembles are comprised of individuals to foster this goal.  New members are always welcome to share their gifts.

OLSOS Adult Choir

The Adult Choir ministers to the parish normally at the 11:30 liturgy.  On the first weekend of the month, we sing at the 4:00 PM Saturday liturgy.  All adults ages 15 and up are invited to join.  Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings 7:30 - 9:00.

Caritas (meaning charity) is a contemporary ensemble.  We sing 2 liturgies a month, with rehearsals planned as is needed.  If you are proficient at playing an instrument or singing, you may find this ministry appeals to you.

Cantors/Psalmists are scheduled each month.  The primary duty is to proclaim the psalm during the Liturgy of the Word.  Cantors are scheduled each month, and rehearse individually with the music director.

The parish has acquired handbells.  If you would like to be part of a handbell choir, please see the music director.

Our Youth Chorale sings one liturgy each month.  Rehearsals are on Thursday afternoons from 3:15 - 4:30.  Please see Ms. Lindquist or Brian Foos if your child (3rd grade - 8th grade) would like to take part.
